Sept 3, Saugerties, NY

The threat of Hurricane Earl has greatly diminished as the storm has taken the more easterly track away from NYC and is expected to go by us tonight nearly 200 miles out to sea. As we have been in Troy for three days we decide to move on.

The bridge at Troy, NY can be raised for large ships.

Beautiful sandstone building was the NY Railroad headquarters building.
Now New York State Education Assn.
Visible as we pass by Albany, NY.

B No 220 being pushed by a tug.

Kayakers.

We moved 50 miles south on the Hudson River toward NYC to Saugerties, NY, which is on the west side of the Hudson between Catskill and Kingston. The harbor here is well off the Hudson and so quite protected from the wind.

Saugerties Marina is a small working boatyard.

It was overcast for our travel today but without any wind or rain. Nice day to travel on the water.

Below are the four famous lighthouses of the Hudson River.

We passed two on the way from Troy to Saugerties and two on the way from Saugerties to NYC.
