Sept 12-13, St Michaels, MD

Rain overnight. Very foggy this morning as we head out. About ninty minutes out (12 miles) we go under the Chesapeake Bay Bridge at the Kent Island narrows and then through the basquel bridge with a 14 foot clearance. About 12 other boats go through at the same time. Busy place.

Leaving Tolchester Marina in the fog.

Our visibility comes and goes.

Kent Island Narrows.

After the bridges at Kent Island narrows, we motored on another ninty minutes (12 more miles) to St Michaels, Maryland, one of our favorite stops. We visited here with John and Julie and their six children (our grandchildren) when they visited us aboard KOKOMO II for a week in June. Great memories. Blue crab was plentiful in June and is plentiful now. Locals say it has been the best season for commercial crabbing in 40 years. Locals say they have no explaination, but think it is great.

KOKOMO II at Chesapeake Maritime Museum.

We are staying at the Chesapeake Maretime Museum right on the museum grounds and have complete access to the museum and grounds while we are here. Neat place. We are about two blocks from town. Good power but no internet. Wifi from a neighboring marina. Thanks 'harborinn'.

Hooper Strait Lighthouse was moved to the Chesapeake Maritime Museum in St Michaels and is the centerpiece of their Museum.

Good signage.

Good one.

Owen remembers having one of these in 1972.

1800's cannon sights in on KOKOMO II.

Our second day in St Michaels is beautiful with not a cloud in the sky. We walked the downtown, toured the Maretime Museum and had an exceptional dinner at Bistro. Very nice day. St Michaels is our favorite stop on the 'eastern shore' of Maryland.
