Sept 3, Bobcaygeon, ON

We started the morning in Buckhorn Lake and motored about ten miles down the lake and then west around Fox Island and then north into Pigeon Lake for another ten miles to Bobcaygeon, Ontario.

Danger sign. Must be a bad rock below. Never see these signs in the Bahamas.

We pass the Kawartha Voyager on calm waters.

As we approach Bobcaygeon

Beautiful homes

We are staying at Gordon's Yacht Harbor marina in Bobcaygeon where we have 50 amp power and very good internet. We are about a ten minute walk to town.

KOKOMO II at Gordon's.

This is a nice stop. Bobcaygeon (Indian word which means "narrow place between two rocks where the water rushes through") is a lively village with one stoplight that considers itself "the hub of the Kawartha's".

The first lock on the Trent-Severn Waterway, Bobcaygeon (now lock # 32) is consistently one of the busiest. The lockmasters communicate with boaters using a public address system and, since Bobcaygeon is often the first lock that rental houseboats approach, the staff is prepared to help. There are always a few tourists and locals watching the boats lock through.

Downtown Bobcaygeon.

Bigley's is the largest store in town and specializes in ladies shoes. It is a local landmark and known for miles around. These is also a nice grocery, drugstore, bakery and several restaurants. Another clear and beautiful day.
