Sept 2, Buckhorn, ON

We are still in the Kawartha’s lake area and it is still beautiful country to be traveling through. As we look around we see granite islands with vacation homes and lots of trees. There are granite boulders showing above and just below the water. There is almost no wind this morning, the temperature is cool and there are no clouds in the sky. Perfect weather again today.

We left the Viamede Resort and first cruised on Stoney Lake, then rejoined our main Trent-Severn route at “Hells Gate” and went through the very small town of Burleigh Falls, then transited Lovesick Lake and finally found our way into Lower Buckhorn Lake.

Linda's flower and herb garden is looking good!

We transited three locks today and saw several larger boat transiting through, too.

PASSION

Two of the other boats had “Looper” flags but we did not get a chance to talk to either boat. One looked to be a 55 footer or so and was from Auckland, New Zealand, named PASSION.

We stopped for the afternoon and evening just after lock #31 at Buckhorn and are staying on the lock wall in a park. Buckhorn is a very small community. We have a nice view of the lake above the lock and even have a cool afternoon breeze. There are several restaurants here, a small general store, antique store and a thrift shop. No power, no internet.
