Sept 6-7, Winter Harbor, ME

Motored about 50 miles east from Rockland through the islets of Maine and some of the most beautiful scenery we have had yet on our trip.

We ended up in Winter Harbor (just northeast of Bar Harbor) and are visiting Jim and Jan Bruner from Stuart who have a summer home here on Grindstone Neck in Winter Harbor.

Linda, Jim and Jan and "Merry Chanter" and "Jackie"

Jim and Jan have been spending part of the summer here for about 20 years and we have seen big changes to their "log cabin" home every time we come here.

KOKOMO II is tied up to the floating dock at the Winter Harbor Yacht Club. Jim and Jan have a new guest area this year over the new garage and so we stay ashore for the first time on our trip. Their new guest suite is spectacular. We love seeing Jim and Jan and are enjoying the rural laid back lifestyle here in this part of Maine.

Jim and Jan take us to a granite sculpture carving exhibition at Schoodic National Park and we see several sculpturers at work.

The rocky coast here is spectacular!

Second night we move KOKOMO II to a private dock that Jim arranged for us closer to town (thank you Mr. Goldstein) and we were tied up in the middle of the Winter Harbor lobster fleet. We liked feeling "local" and "like old salts" by being tied up in the middle of about 50 local "lobstah boats".

Great to see Jim and Jan and to be in Winter Harbor! KOKOMO II has gone as far north and east as we will go on this trip. We are now 2450 nautical miles from Stuart and are turning around and heading south and west back toward New York City. From New York, we plan to cruise up the Hudson River to Albany, then west on the Erie Canal to Brewerton, New York, where we plan to winter the boat this year.
