May 11-12 Savannah, GA

Looks like Florida to us!

Our new friend Jan (a friend of Ron and Cathie's) taking us on a tour of Savannah with old friends John and Sherry

Savannah!!!!!!. Our marina is at the Hyatt Regency Hotel right downtown!. Fabulous location. Two megayachts (100 feet plus) are next to us. As is the local ferry tourist boat for the Savannah waterfront. BIG freighters go by very close to us on the way in and out of the port. We arrive in Savannah and head drectly to Paula Deen's restaurant "Lady and Son's". Put our name in at 11:00 am and are told to come back at 2:30. We do and are seated on the third floor of the restaurant and have a delightful lunch. Fried chicken (peanut oil) and sweet potatoes are the best. We tour the town on our own some in the afternoon and Sherry and John Crowell from Tybee, and Jan Bradley from Savannah, join us on the boat for drinks. Started the evening in the cellar of the "Pink House" for a light dinner in front of the fireplace, then the local theater (recently restored) and saw "Guys and Dolls". Next morning Sherry and John pick us up and take us to Jan's home in downtown Savannah and Jan takes us on a two hour walking tour of Downtown Savannah. Turns out Jan is a tour guide for busses when they visit Savannah and so we had a "local" give us a great tour. Definitely the way to see the town. Later an evening stroll along the waterfront is special including a trombone quartet. A fireworks show over the harbor to end the day.
