Aug 4, Dorval, QC

The technician from Caterpillar arrived first thing this morning and changed the heat exchanger. So our engine repairs have been completed and everything works as it should.

We have decided that because we have been delayed four days with our engine repair, that we do not have time to see Ottawa and revisit the Rideau Canal and take our time doing so. If we are to keep our original plan, then we would need to be traveling almost every day. So we decide to head directly to the Erie Canal by way of the 1000 Islands area by heading southwest (upstream) on the St Lawrence River. This will shorten the trip by 50 miles and eliminate 40 locks and give us much more time for sightseeing.

So with our repairs complete we head out to find a marina with 50 amp power, water to replenish our tank and internet.

Approaching Royal St Lawrence Yacht Club.

Tug at the marina.

Royal St Lawrence Yacht Club has a nice dining room and a nice collection of burge's (yacht club flags flown from the bow pulpit) on the walls. Burge's are sometimes given to the yacht club by boaters who are visiting. We see a burgee from Huntington Harbor (Jodie's Club) in Huntington Beach, California. Someone was a long way from home.

Success! We end the day at the Royal St Lawrence Yacht Club in Dorval, Quebec, and found everything we needed.
