June 3, Belhaven, NC

We moved 70 miles today with rain all around us. Some lightning and thunder and a few light raindrops for us but no heavy rain. Do not know how we missed it. Weather cleared around noon and the wind became calm. We are on the wide waterway with a few narrow channels but all in all a very nice day.

Shrimp trawlers as we leave Beaufort, NC.

Brightly painted home. Note the small flats boat on the lift is painted to match. Click on picture to enlarge. Ugh!

We pass a barge in the Intercoastal. Have only seen a few. Call on the radio and pass on the 'one whistle ' side.

We are staying at a the Belhaven Waterway Marina tonight which is closer to the town than the River forest Marina where we stayed last time. Seems nice.

Homes in Belhaven.

Belhaven Waterway Marina is our marina for the night.

Lagoon power catamaran. Have not seen the power version before. Pretty.

'Crabby' is the sculpture next to our restaurant, the Fish Hooks Cafe.
Nice dinner in a small town.

We found an ACE Hardware store with lots of merchandise in addition to hardware. Clothes, gifts, accessories and books. Almost like and old time general store. Found two more Robert Parker books. Did not go back to the local museum, but remember it for all the unusual items on display. We rate it a 'one time must see' for all visitors. A cross between an museum and Ripleys 'believe it or not'.
