May 25, Edisto, SC

We moved out of Beaufort and headed north.

Stopped in Edisto, a small resort town right on the ocean, and stayed in the Edisto Marina. We made this stop so we would have two short days getting to Charleston instead of one really long day. The total time between Beaufort and Charleston is about 8 hours for us at 8 knots and so we decided on two days instead of one.

The tides are extreme around here and we had an exceptionally low tide today approaching Edisto. The channel is well marked but we ran aground well inside the channel and it took us about 15 minutes to get ourselves off the sand bar. A rather stressful few moments in our boating today. No damage other than to our nerves and we spent the afternoon hunkered down during a rainstorm that lasted all afternoon.

Approaching the marina at Edisto.
Glad to be floating again.

A rainbow as the rains move off over the marsh

Pretty sunset at Edisto Marina.

Town was not near the marina so we did not get much chance to look around and see what's here. Rained most of the afternoon and evening.
