June 21-22, Annapolis, MD

We moved 25 miles from St Michaels to Annapolis, Maryland. A beautiful day on the water. We are staying at the Annapolis City Dock right on 'ego alley' and love the 'in the middle of everything' location. Annapolis is the Capitol City of Maryland and is the proclaimed 'Sailing Capital of the USA'. Lots and lots of boats here.

Approaching Annapolis. We wait for a sailing school to sail through.
US Naval Academy behind.

KOKOMO II docked at 'Ego Alley'.

Downtown Annapolis.

The US Naval Academy was founded in Annapolis in the 1800's and we take a tour of the grounds including the dormitories that house the 4400 cadets, the mess hall, gymnasium, sports fields, classrooms, chapel and museum. The midshipmen are away for the summer so the campus is quiet but we get to tour without the normal crowds. Really a beautiful campus in a beautiful setting.

Mia, Julie, John, Ryan, Gracie, Jack, Tommy and Christopher.

Tommy McGrath finds a namesake on a plaque at the Naval Academy.

Under the dome of the chapel.

Many of the Ship models at the Naval Academy Museum are original models made by the boat builders at the time the boats were built. Great detail. Some from the 1600's. Many from the 1700's. We have never seen better models.

We like being right downtown in the middle of everything. We are two blocks from the Naval Academy, one block from the shops and restaurants.

Rib dinner outside on the boat.

Pretty hanging baskets are all over downtown.

Rowing shell with crew of eight beside our boat in the harbor.
Small boat has instructor using a loudspeaker.

We have breakfast at 'Chick and Ruth's Delly' in Annapolis where they recite the pledge to the flag every day at 8:30 (9:30 weekends). Ted is second generation owner and a nice guy and a very good magician. Here Ted does several magic tricks at our breakfast table for our crew. Chick and Ruth's Delly is one of the highlights of our week.

We like Annapolis. Probably our favorite destination on the Chesapeake. Great shops and restaurants in a nautical atmosphere combined with colonial architecture and the activity of the Naval Academy and the Maryland Capitol City.
