Today was interesting. We wanted to travel about 90 miles from Brunswick, Georgia to Isle of Hope, Georgia, which is just south of Savannah. The Intercoastal is not a straight run but follows the natural rivers and creeks and is very winding and subject to shoaling and shallow spots. And the black flies are in season as we go through the marshes. The weather was nice so we went out the Brunswick River to the Atlantic Ocean and continued offshore to near Savannah where we came back inside and went about another 10 miles to Isle of Hope. The trip taking the ocean route was 20 miles shorter (saved two hours) than going the winding inside route and we avoided the flies. Seas were two feet with no whitecaps in the morning, then increasing some in the afternoon.

We end the day at Isle of Hope Marina. Called ahead for a reservation. Glad we did. Great spot. We have nice memories from 2007 when we were here before and everything seems the same.

We took their 'loaner car' to the nearby town of "Sandfly". Had a very nice dinner and found the local drug and grocery store for some additional provisions. This crew travels on its stomach.

We spotted two sailboats that were of note. Both California boats. KETCH 22 from San Francisco and this Manta 42 Catamaran from Palm Desert.

Note the stadium seating in the second row. This cockpit could handle lots of sailors in comfort. Neat!
