Aug 14-15, Egg Harbor, WI

Raining with some thunder in the distance this morning as we move five miles from Fish Creek to Egg Harbor.

Leaving Alibi Marina in Fish Creek in the rain.

We wanted to see Egg Harbor (pop. 250) and experience all the towns and marinas on the Door Peninsula. We are docked at the Egg Harbor Municipal Marina and have a spot on the wall at the gas dock. We have 50 amp and Internet at the boat. Egg Harbor Marina is known to be undergoing a major upgrade and expansion and has limited dock space until the improvements are completed. Most boaters have avoided coming here this year. There are only 12 slips in the whole marina and all the slips are full. The new marina is not started but is scheduled to be ready sometime in 2010.

A flock of Canadian Geese come to visit.

Ted and Cookie's pickup parked right next to the boat.

We take a drive to Sturgeon Bay and visit Walgreens and a big grocery store. Very nice to have the car here.

Farm tractor made of hay bales.
Some farmer is very artistic. Good job.

Shipwrecked Brew Pub, Inn and Restaurant is famous for it's beers and burgers. Sign says it has been a restaurant since 1858.
Al Capone used to come here often.

Cupola House.

Main Street Shops are open year round.

Legend has it that the Village of Egg Harbor got it's name from an egg fight between the crews of several boats that came to the harbor in 1825 carrying eggs at the same time. This is a nice little community. Not much to do here but pleasant and a good variety of stores including a large well stocked grocery within walking distance of the marina. Important if you do not have a car.

Owen is facinated by these wind sculptures. This one reminds him of 'the balling of the bait' sometimes seen in sailfishing.

The beach at the Alpine Resort is busy even though the
water temperature is 70.

'Rafting' is popular in Wisconsin and Michigan.

We have been out to eat every night in Door County with Ted and Cookie and seen some very nice places and had some great dinners. We decide our favorite is 'Waterfront' restaurant in Sister Bay.
