Aug 12-13 Fish Creek, WI
We moved from Sister Bay about 8 miles, south along the Door Peninsula, to Fish Creek. Another nice day on the water and very pretty scenery along the shore.
the Mainer's 'Cliffhouse' is hidden in these trees.
We are docked at Alibi Marina. Alibi is a large marina with good facilities and there are many larger boats here. This marina is the largest of any on the west side of the Door Peninsula.
We take the car and visit Julie's Restaurant and then tour the Peninsula State Park. We have seen the park from the water and now we drive through and enjoy the forest and the views from the land. Very nice park where we see lots of family camping areas and lots of campers. This is a beautiful area for bike riding as there is an extensive bike path system here.
We begin to explore Fish Creek.
No vacancy.
Here a horse covered in wood chips for your garden.
Owen and Linda take Ted and Cookie to see the 'fish boil' outside at Pelletier's Restaurant.
An outdoor fire is used to heat a large kettle which contains water, salt, red potatoes, onions and whitefish. When the cooking is almost complete the water in the pot is 'boiled over' by adding kerosene to the fire. This removes the fish oil from the water before serving.
Very showy.
The 'Fish Boil'.
Owen and Ted enjoy some ice cream as we walk around after dinner.
Note the rock outcropping behind the store.
Banana with chunks of chocolate and peanut butter.
