July 5-8, Petosky, MI

Today was a moving day again, but only 3 miles across Little Traverse Bay from Harbor Springs to Petosky. Weather was nice and the bay had a little chop. Probably 1-2 feet. Lots of sailboats out and a really pretty day for sailing. Christopher and Ryan brought our eleven foot inflatable dingy over to Petosky on it's own bottom and had a nice BOUNCY ride.

When we reached the marina at Petosky we had a 'pump out' and 'topped off' the diesel tanks. Our crew got the whole experience of boating today. We had a cruise and then participated in some of our regular maintenance chores.

John and Julie walked into Petosky using the tunnel from the marina and found most stores closed for Sunday. Owen and Linda used John and Julie's car for one more run to Walmart. We finish the day with a nice dinner at the marina picnic area and playground.

John and Julie and the family left us on July 6th after lunch to head for Rick and Kathy Neumann's Dream Lodge in Lewiston, Michigan for a few days. We have had a wonderful time with everyone here. They added so much to our trip and love to be active and play games in the evening and on rainy days. We will miss them. Hope they can rejoin us later in the summer.

A tug and barge enter the marina to do some maintenance work.

Band plays in the gazebo at lunchtime.

Perry Hotel in Petosky. Chris remembers dinner there with Marg and Clark some years ago.

Kim Alexander and Ady (pronounced Audie) Cesana join us on July 7th after an all night and day trip from Northern California. They flew into Green Bay, Wisconsin, and rented a car to reach us. Great to see Kim and meet Ady. We spent more time exploring Petosky and took a car trip to Harbor Springs.

Ady and Kim arrive from California.

The replica ships NINA and PINTA (same ones that were in Stuart, Fla in April) pulled into port in Petosky and docked right in front of our boat. Active schedule.

NINA and PINTA docked at our marina in Petosky.

Fire trucks spray the park at the marina and youngsters run through the water. The weather is still cool.

Hi Linda and Owen, Loved reading your blogs and seeing what the whole family is doing. What a wonderful experience you are providing for John and Julie and kids. Having lived in Michigan and visited the area in which you are cruising...we know how nice it is. Glad that they all get the opportunity to see the beauty up there. Thank you for giving them this great vacation. I know they are all loving every moment!
