Sept 9, Northeast Harbor, ME

Coast Guard Patrol operating in Bar Harbor as we get ready to leave our dock

We have a calm day, overcast with no fog and we leave Bar Harbor about 11 am and motor about 10 miles south to Northeast Harbor. We motor into Somes Sound, the only fjord on the east coast of the US, and then backtrack to Northeast Harbor.

We arrive at the Northeast Harbor Marina about 12:30 and we walk up the hill and explore the main street and the shops.

Northeast Harbor is a small settlement but claims to serve the wealthiest group of residents in this part of Maine.

Dave and Joyce Powell from Stuart arrive about 5 pm to join us aboard KOKOMO II for a few days of cruising.

They leave their car here and will pick it up in a few days and resume their driving tour of Maine and Canada. Dinner is at the Tan Turtle in a cozy pub atmosphere and is very tasty.
