The Memorial Day weekend traffic is over and we have the waterway to ourselves again. Cruised along the Intercoastal and had some shorelines of wilderness and some shorelines of homes.

Passed by the Marine Training base at Camp Lejeune, NC. This is a large facility that begins just north of the New River Inlet and covers some 18 miles of shoreline on both sides of the Intercoastal Waterway. It also extends to the beach. Pretty impressive property for training the Marines. When the training is underway the Marines sometimes are using 'live fire' and during those times the waterway is restricted to boat traffic. We motored through a restricted area but there were no activities going on today. Pretty area.

Traveled to Swansboro, a very small community that has some historic homes and bills itself as the fourth oldest community in NC.

Pursuit boat factory, now closed.

Stayed at Caspers Marina. Nice but not much here. Marina people took us to Piggy Wiggly (known locally as 'the Pig') in their van and we shopped for all the provisions we might need. Thanks Caspers.
