Aug 12-13 Fish Creek, WI

We moved from Sister Bay about 8 miles, south along the Door Peninsula, to Fish Creek. Another nice day on the water and very pretty scenery along the shore.

As we cruise between Sister Bay and Ephraim, we think
the Mainer's 'Cliffhouse' is hidden in these trees.

Eagle Bluff dominates the waterfront.

Alibi Marina in Fish Creek.

We are docked at Alibi Marina. Alibi is a large marina with good facilities and there are many larger boats here. This marina is the largest of any on the west side of the Door Peninsula.

Linda likes the name of this restaurant. 'Julie's' Restaurant.

Ted, Cookie, Linda and Owen.

We take the car and visit Julie's Restaurant and then tour the Peninsula State Park. We have seen the park from the water and now we drive through and enjoy the forest and the views from the land. Very nice park where we see lots of family camping areas and lots of campers. This is a beautiful area for bike riding as there is an extensive bike path system here.

Eagle Bluff Lighthouse.

Our crew at Sven's overlook.

Sven's overlook offers great coastline views.

Mother teaching daughters to do some oil painting.

We begin to explore Fish Creek.

New condominiums near the Alibi Marina

Motel type units in town.
No vacancy.

Lots of shops

Variety of merchandise.
Here a horse covered in wood chips for your garden.

A variety of garden sculpture.

Founders square shops.

Whistling Swan Inn and Restaurant on Main Street.

Wind sculpture

Owen and Linda take Ted and Cookie to see the 'fish boil' outside at Pelletier's Restaurant.

Pelletier's puts on a great show with the 'fish boil'.
An outdoor fire is used to heat a large kettle which contains water, salt, red potatoes, onions and whitefish. When the cooking is almost complete the water in the pot is 'boiled over' by adding kerosene to the fire. This removes the fish oil from the water before serving.
Very showy.

The cook yells out 'Fish Boil' just before he adds the kerosene to the fire. Then he throws the fuel on the fire causing a very large and very hot fire and the kettle boils over.
The 'Fish Boil'.

Owen and Ted enjoy some ice cream as we walk around after dinner.

Dippy's Ice cream is our favorite.
Note the rock outcropping behind the store.

Our choice flavor tonight is 'Fat Elvis'.
Banana with chunks of chocolate and peanut butter.
