Actually very pretty.
The north end of the Mosquito Lagoon does have some 'fish camp' housing and we see some low end mobile homes along the shoreline. The land is very low and I imagine it floods badly in any storm.
Rainstorm in the background.
The rains came today by the bucket as we approached Daytona. The Intercoastal is very protected so there were no big waves but the wind came up and we used the radar and turned on the night time running lights. Whole storm lasted about an hour. Nice and dry aboard KOKOMO II.
In Daytona, we are staying at the Halifax River Yacht Club which is located right next to the old downtown area. The area has been improved with a new roadway, sidewalks, landscaping and street furniture. There is new parking behind the old downtown. A new baseball stadium (minor league) is across the street. A large municipal marina is nearby.

We found a used bookstore and a sushi restaurant downtown. Spent a delightful afternoon.
