OCT 1, Perryville, TN

Another beautiful day on the water. Temperature about 70 degrees, almost no wind and the sky is very clear.

We moved about 40 miles south on the Tennessee River (upstream) and crossed under the Interstate 40 bridge about midday. We have left Kentucky Lake behind. The river is less than a half mile wide here and look like a river and not like a lake. The current has been flowing about 2 knots against us so our forward progress is more like 6.8-7 knots. Feels pretty slow.

Kentucky Lake on the Tennessee River

End of Kentucky Lake.

Interesting rocks.

This is still a rural area and a very pretty part of the 'loop'. We passed two barges today and continue to see lots of bass boats.

We start seeing a few homes along the river.
Usually high up because of flooding.

We see a few houses usually clumped together along bits of the shore.

Approaching Perryville Marina.
If water is low, there is no access for bigger boats.

Perryville Marina.

Lots of floating second homes here.

We are staying at the Perryville Marina with all the services except a restaurant. Internet is ok here. We hear from our dock master that the Kenlake Dam is releasing water to get the river system down to it's normal winter pool. He says the water here at Perryville has dropped six inches today and is expected to drop more tomorrow resulting in the faster than normal river flow.

HOME JAMES comes into the marina at dusk.

At dusk a 110 foot yacht comes into the harbor for the night. HOME JAMES is a Broward with seven staterooms. Linda remembers seeing this yacht docked near us while we were in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, with Kim, Andrew and Matthew. HOME JAMES got underway again at 7 am. We hear from the dock master that she is being delivered to a buyer in St Petersburg, Florida. Beautiful!
